Our Approach

At The Assessment Clinic, our approach to psychoeducational assessment is thoughtful, collaborative, and evidence-based. We recognize that learning, attention, and cognitive functioning are complex and deeply individual. We look to develop a meaningful understanding of how a person thinks, learns, and functions in daily life — and to translate that understanding into practical, actionable recommendations.

Comprehensive and Individualized
Each assessment is tailored to the individual’s age, concerns, developmental history, and referral questions. We do not use a one-size-fits-all testing battery. Instead, assessment tools are carefully selected to ensure clinical relevance and diagnostic accuracy, whether the referral involves learning differences, attention and executive functioning, academic achievement, memory, or emotional factors that may affect learning.
Multi-Source, Evidence-Based Evaluation
Our assessments integrate multiple sources of information, which may include:
  • A detailed clinical and developmental history
  • Standardized cognitive and academic testing
  • Behavioural and attention measures
  • Emotional and social-emotional screening where appropriate
  • Collateral information from parents, teachers, or other professionals (with consent)
This multi-method approach allows us to form conclusions that are both statistically sound and clinically meaningful.
